The Inspiration

1919 - Principe Island

A long journey, a difficult trip in the Atlantic Ocean, a rainy day to make something special.

Mr. Eddington was truly aware that he was going to do something great, perhaps make the greatest astronomical discovery of the century.

The greatest scientific discovery of the century

On May 29th, something was going to change… Mr. Eddington and his staff knew that if they were successful, they would show that the Einstein's theory of relativity was true.

And so it began. The sky slowly became darker and darker. The bright, warm African sun was completely covered by the moon. At that moment, when darkness and light met, and they looked so similar that lost themselves in each other, Mr. Eddington's research and efforts were a sensational discovery.

Our Mission

The photoshoots of the eclipse empirically proved the validity of Einstein’s theory of relativity and stated the studies on the greatest scientific discovery of the last century.

EKWATCH was born out of the will to rediscover the innovative and scientific soul that has characterized eclipses since ancient times. Although the 1919 eclipse is one the most famous of all time, eclipses have always been admired as sensational events, and often considered as a source of research for scientific, philosophical and religious studies in every culture and every century.
